Olive

Olive (Olea europaea) is a perennial evergreen plant. The young fruit can be eaten raw or preserved as a refresher after. The oil extracted from the old fruit can be used for various purposes.

Olive belongs to Oleaceae family. In addition as flavor enhancer in food, olive oil also have variety of benefits, both for health and beauty.

The indications are:

1. Olive oil can be used for hair. Dry hair due to air pollution, exposure to sunlight, inside the air-conditioned room in a long time, or even overuse of chemical-based products.

Any hair and scalp treatment by using olive oil believed to be the right solution and healthy. Because the nutrients contained in olive oil to repair damaged hair cuticles, while providing extra moisture to the hair. So the hair becomes more healthy, soft, shiny and not easily branched.

2. Pure olive oil (Extra Virgin Olive Oil, or Un-refined Olive Oil) can be used directly on the scalp, before starting treatment creambath. Even olive oil mixed with castor oil, lemon juice and peppermint leaves steeping water believed to be the natural recipe for preventing dandruff and itchy scalp.

3. Especially for skin care, beauty products containing olive oil are believed to help maintain skin moisture and elasticity, as well as facilitate the regeneration of the skin, so skin is not easy to dry and wrinkled. For the face, olive oil can be mixed with a mask, or apply directly on skin.

4. For the body, olive oil can be used as a carrier oil for essential oil blend as a massage oil. Olive oil can also be used as a mixture of body lotion or bath soap to maintain moisture and skin softness.

5. Olive oil is also believed to maintain the shape and firmness of the breast.

6. As for the hands and feet, olive oil can also be used to reduce thickened skin on the soles of the feet, to maintain skin smoothness, and strengthen nails.

7. As a food ingredient, olive oil merit in maintaining cardiovascular health, reducing the risk of coronary heart disease. Caused due to a mono-unsaturated fat, mainly oleic acid.

But there are also studies showing the efficacy of olive oil for the heart, because it contains phenolic compound group, rather than fatty acids. The content of phenolic compounds act as antioxidants, which can maintain the elasticity of arterial walls.

8. As a mild laxative to ease the process of defecation.
