As a global company based on agricultural technology solutions to develop agricultural productivity and food quality, Monsanto has participated to enhance welfare of farmers through various acts of social responsibility. They have done it in several parts of Indonesia.

"In every corporate social responsibility program, Monsanto aims for basic family needs such as education, health and the environment in which they live," said the Corporate Affairs Lead Monsanto Indonesia, Herry Kristanto at Hotel Mulia, Thursday (8/18).

According to Herry, the activities were construction of water facilities and toilet (MCK, Ind.) for the 17 thousand villagers of Pandanmulyo and Ngawonggo Villages, Tajinan, Malang.

Public Affairs Manager of Monsanto, Krishnu Senjaya added, in the areas have not had access to clean water, so that people who live there have experienced water shortages. In addition, the infrastructures have also not existed yet. With so, they took the initiative to build a fire hydrant water pump. Also directed how to use the toilets to the residents.

Their lives were better. In the neighborhood around the factory in Mojokerto, Monsanto still considered about the neighborhood with building such education facilities like a madrasa and primary schools. They established the school so that children can get better education.

Not to forget they have also participated in natural disaster situations. They done so when an earthquake shook Yogyakarta, by giving the corn seeds to the local farmers there. "We have given them, because we did not want them to lose their livelihoods," said Krishnu, while they also claimed to educate farmers about good agronomy.

Regarding these, they did not only provide instructions to farmers around the factory, but also in other areas as well. Related to health, several activities have also being implemented such as eyeglasses assistance to five villages.

Such activities did not just stop there. They would continue to do other social things. Monsanto's head office is based in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. They have offices in several countries. In Indonesia, Monsanto was founded in 1976 under the auspices of PT Branita Sandhini, the provider of corn seeds and vegetables. (Sbh) (ms)

I don't think that you guys understand what are you written about! Monsanto is suck! the biggest enemy of organic farmers! This is just their propaganda, hope you'll be careful to write of you really care to community
