This art, known as beatbox by Willem Carolus Christopherson Tamnge or usually called Billy. And, from the idea of Billy also, it was formed the community of Beatbox Indonesia.
Billy had the idea with one of the Fade to Black personnel who is good at rapping, Tito. They met after Billy followed the talent show program titled Gong Show on a television station. Then they made a pact to create a community of Jakarta Beatboxing Community on December 4, 2007.
This community was a place for beatbox community in Jakarta to gather around, but hence it has just become a limited group. Its members, mostly came from big fans of Fade to Black.
Gathers frequently, interact and share the knowledge.."Along with time it was renamed as The Indonesian Beatboxing Community or in short, the Indobeatbox Community in April 2008," added the Indobeatbox Community founder, Billy, as meeting TNOL in Menteng Park yesterday.
The change of the name was because many fans of Fade to Black came from out of Jakarta like Bandung, Yogyakarta and other areas. Although changing the name, this community has not set a date for their official foundation. Understandably, they had only done limited activities on Friendster.
Even then, the members were only about 20 people. No wonder, their respective members rarely met face to face. Including Billy with Tito too. They met again, when there was an European movie screening at the Goethe Haus on October 30, 2008.
"There, we inaugurated the Indobeatbox Community. This date was also become the birthday of this community," said Billy.
Able to imitate various musical instruments..They also opened an account on other social networking site. Based on the data from Facebook, Billy said, members of Indobeatbox Community has reached 7000 people. Of the 7000 people, 50 percent are Fade to Black fans incorporated in Respektor.
That way, the members were not all capable of beatboxing. This community has no chairman, but has a manager who takes care of all members in Indonesia. In addition, there are coordinators in each region. During the formation, this community has had a variety of activities. Among other things, performing at music events, charity, school concerts, product launchings and enliven the event at malls.
Uniquely, they haven't looked for these jobs. Indeed, the jobs that have come into their hands because the parties who invited the community have seen their action on the television, radio and YouTube.
"I had a half-year performance on television with Fitri Tropika," said Billy. Through performing in various places, they began to have the operational funds that can support their community activities. They set aside about five percent of their income for the community cash.
Always open as a community..Well, for those who are interested in becoming a member may join in their group or can come directly to the nearest Beatbox Community at no charge. In Jakarta, this community often gathers at Taman Menteng every Wednesday night, beginning from 20:00 pm.
On the gathering, they bring some beatbox equipments like sound system, microphone and speakers because the gathering activities consist of mutual sharing of beatbox technical skills.
For those who are already skilled, they do not hesitate to teach the members that have not been able to do so. When gathered, this community does not wear specific uniforms. They free their members to wear any costume. (Subhan)
