Koskas cycling at FX Senayan/ Photos: Novri TNOL Koskas cycling at FX Senayan/ Photos: Novri TNOL BECAUSE of frequent chat about bicycle through a virtual world forum, has made some of the people involved wanted to create a real community that can directly meet face to face. Then they agreed to meet, and even did a night ride. Regarding all the above, this community finally named themselves as the Komunitas Sepeda Kaskus (Koskas).

"We used to speak at the forum, then me and my friends made a pact to meet for a bike ride together. After quite some times, we thought, why not gather the Kaskus members who love bikes? Finally, we formed the Komunitas Sepeda Kaskus," said the Chairwoman of Koskas, Kirana, or usually called Nana to TNOL at FX Senayan, last Saturday night (2/26).

Onthelists also become members..Onthelists also become members..Koskas was officially established in July 2010, and they did their soft launch on January 9, 2011 at the Hotel Indonesia (HI) roundabout. When the soft launch there were around 350 people attended. Of the total 350 people, said Nana, they were only a few of the overall Koskas members. Because, based on the Kaskus ID database, their members have reached about 10 thousand people.

All members spread in all regions of Indonesia such as Semarang, Bandung, Surabaya, Kalimantan, Yogyakarta and other areas. Members of Koskas have also come from different backgrounds, starting from the level of junior high school, high school and college students; workers, housewives up to grandparents. In addition, the bikes they use are also of different types.

Nana, the Chairwoman of Koskas Nana, the Chairwoman of Koskas Types of bicycle used ranged from MTB, folding bike to onthel, a classic type of bicycle, owned by members of the Koskas. The purpose of the Koskas establishment was to campaign the go green lifestyle and encourage people to use bicycle as a mean of transportation rather than use engined vehicles.

In terms of activities, Koskas also has some interesting agenda. Among others, gathering at the HI roundabout when the car free day in progress. There, they can cycle together with other Koskas members and chat with them.

There is also a night ride that is conducted every Friday night. Rallying point for the night ride usually differs. "For the night ride location, we usually have tentative places," said Nana.

Anybody can join..Anybody can join..At the night ride, they don't feel tired to cycle their two-wheeled vehicles to various destinations. Because, they cycle together, so they won't feel that they have been through a long journey.

"With the night ride, we are also campaigning for people to be fond of cycling. So we won't feel tired when cycling our bikes," said Nana convincing.

Now, for those of you who are interested to join the Koskas community, you can register straight at their forum. The registration is free, but if you want to have the special Koskas uniform, you will have to pay under IDR 100 thousand for it.

Koskas have two choices of uniform, the first is a combination of red and black color, priced approximately IDR 85 thousand. The second choice, a combination of gray with blue color worths IDR 95 thousand. (Subhan)
