Ever imagined your self stilting like a grasshopper?

Today, many extreme sports offer exciting sensation like skateboard, wall climbing, rafting, flying fox, motocross, bungee jumping and others.

Well, speaking about extreme sports, there's a new sport surprisingly raise your adrenalin. It is jumping stilts. This sport is actually well-known in Europe. However, Indonesian people knew this sport at around 2010.

Recently, many of jumping stilts communities founded in Indonesia. One of them is Indo Jump Stilts.

Indo Jump Stilts was founded in November 2010. Started from a hobby, then the idea to form a community raised, to share information on jumping stilts, equipments, as well as to make new friend.

"Number of members in this community continues to raise day by day," Achmad Maghfur, coordinator of Indo Jump Stilts explained.

According to Mapung, Maghfur's nickname, playing jumping stilts is exciting, because in addition to sport, this activity could also pumps our adrenalin. "Imagine, we could jump up to 3 metres! It's so fun, and also challenging," Mapung said.

Yet, Mapung admitted, jumping stilts is a high-risk sport. We may experience serious injuries like fractures, sprains, or wounds, and it's a common in this sport. Mapung explained, however, these risks could be minimized by wearing protectors like helmet, knee and elbow protectors.

"That's why we always recommend our members to wear safety protectors while playing jumping stilts," Mapung said.

Up to now, the Indo Jumping Stilts comprises of 40 members, and they actively excercise in Menteng Park every Saturday. They also practice jumping stilts in Sunday at the car free day event around Hotel Indonesia Roundabout.

Since this is a quiet unique sport, no wonder they frequently being invited to some events. "In fact, we once invited to be ads model," Mapung said. And, it's considered to be a good opportunity for this community to get side jobs. Uniquely, they'd never claim their fee in each performance. "We are not a commercial community. In our opinion, those invitations are considered to be a bonus of our hobby," Mapung revealed.
