Canigowes, The Cycle Lovers of Canisius

Started by similar interest on bike and frequently cycling together, the alumni of Canisius school finally founded the Canigowes Community in August, 2009, Canigowes is stand for "Komunitas Alumni Canisius Pencinta Sepeda" or "Community of Canisius Alumni Bike Lover"

The community is reserved for students and graduates of Canisius, that's why its name is Canigowes. Cani stands for Canisius, and gowes taken as synonymous with 'ride'

 Doc. CanigowesDoc. Canigowes"Canigowes newly formed this year and is intended only for students and alumni of Canisius," Andrew Linggar, leader of Canigowes, said. Since this community is new, the community was not conducting many activities yet. However, they had cycled from Jakarta – Bogor, and even to Anyer.

Besides cycling events, Canigowes also carrying social work ,and this year. they planed to visit orphanage. While for environment activities, Canigowes had joint with the WWF event and launched the video clip "Jika Bumi Bisa Bicara" or "If the Earth Could Talk".

The event was held by cycling from Menteng Park to Pisa Café. Surprisingly, Katon Bagaskara, the musician and singer, is a member of Canigowes. He launched the video clip together with Nugie as well as Canigowes.

Canigowes comprises of 35 members. They were joining to the community since cycling is their hobby, and as transportation tool also. Interestingly, the members are free to use any type of bicycle. Various kinds of bicycle can be seen when they were gathering.

To join the community is easy, simply by subscribing to the mailing list at Canigowes canigowes@yahoogroups.com or Facebook. However, the community is closed to Canisius students and alumni only. 

Because this community is relatively new, they hope that the number of members would be increase in the future, as well as they could help to reduce the air pollution.
